The Mountain is the largest quail in the wild. They're native to the west coast from California all the way up to Washington. The most difficult thing about raising them is to watch out for the toe pecking. YOU HAVE TO TRIM THEIR BEAKS EVERY WEEK DURING THE BROODING STAGE, AND EVEN A BIT LONGER WHEN THEY'RE IN THE GROW OUT PENS !!! If you don't do this then more than likely you'll have a bunch of birds with little to no toes. Don't overcrowd, and don't raise them as youngsters on a wire bottom brooder. Other than that, they're a tough bird and can take the cold well.
